pH directly governs which nutrients are available for plant uptake. In a hydroponic system running at the correct pH range of 5.5 to 6.5, all essential elements remain soluble and accessible to the root system. When pH rises above this range, elements including iron, manganese, and zinc become insoluble and unavailable for uptake, causing deficiency symptoms to develop even when those elements are present in the nutrient solution.

Nutrifield pH Down is a phosphoric acid-based solution used to correct pH that has drifted too high, lowering it back into the optimal range quickly and accurately. Phosphoric acid is the standard active ingredient for pH reduction in hydroponic systems as it contributes phosphorus to the solution, a macronutrient the plant actively requires, making it a productive addition to the nutrient profile rather than an inert correction agent.

Always dilute before adding to the reservoir: add a small measured volume to water first, then introduce the diluted solution gradually to the reservoir while testing pH frequently until the target range is reached. Larger reservoirs will require proportionally more solution. Handle with care as this product is corrosive and can cause burns on contact with skin or eyes.
