Choosing your first grow tent
A tent is the cheapest way to get a controlled environment, but the wrong one will annoy you every single day.
Start with height, not floor space
Lights, a carbon filter and a fan all hang from the roof and eat 40 to 60cm before a plant grows a leaf. A 2m tent is comfortable. A 1.6m tent is a constant compromise.
Fabric and zips
Look for a thick canvas, doubled stitching and heavy zips. The zip is the part that fails first on a cheap tent.
What you will need at the same time
- An extraction fan sized to the tent volume, plus ducting and a carbon filter.
- Something to hang it all from - ratchet hangers make height changes painless.
- A circulation fan for leaf movement.
- A thermo-hygrometer so you are measuring, not guessing.
